Tajuddin Ahmad was freedom fighter and statesman of Bangladesh. He was the first Prime Minister of Bangladesh. In 1971 during the Bangladesh Liberation War Tajuddin Ahmad leaded the wartime temporary Government.

Tajuddin Ahmad is regarded as most powerful and active figure in the birth of Bangladesh. During his leadership Tajuddin Ahmad combined the several military, cultural forces, and political for Bangladeshi nationalism.

Tajuddin Ahmad was born on 23 July in 1925 at Kapasia in Gazipur. The family of Tajuddin Ahmad belonged to middle class traditional Muslim family. Maulavi Muhammad Yasin Khan was his father and Meherunnesa Khanam was mother. Tajuddin Ahmad had six sisters and three brothers. In 1944 Tajuddin Ahmad went to Saint Gregory High School. He achieved BA degree from Dhaka University in economics.

Tajuddin Ahmad organized objections and other activities during the language movement in1952. He was arrested in 1954. Tajuddin Ahmad took the law examination and achieved BA degree in law into the jail. Tajuddin Ahmad joined the Muslim League in 1943. As a founder member Tajuddin Ahmad joined East Pakistan Student League in 1948.

Tajuddin Ahmad was the general secretary of Dhaka district Awami League from 1953 to 1957. He was the social wellbeing and cultural secretary in 1955. Tajuddin Ahmad became the managing secretary of Awami League in 1964. Tajuddin Ahmad participated in the Lahore Conference of the opposition parties in 1966 to submit the Six-Points.

During 1960 to 1970 Tajuddin Ahmad was the General Secretary of the Awami League. In 1970 Tajuddin Ahmad synchronized the League’s election campaign for the Pakistani general election. After the liberation war, Tajuddin Ahmad was given accuse of finance and planning ministry. Second daughter of Tajuddin Ahmad Simeen Hussain was selected as a member of Bangladesh parliament in 2012.

When Tajuddin Ahmad was fifty years old he left on 3rd November 1975. Tajuddin Ahmad was the truth seeker. He always stands for the justice and fairness by honesty and humanity. To remember Tajuddin Ahmad Shahid Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital was established in Gazipur. Tajuddin Ahmad a documentary was released in 2007.

Tajuddin Ahmad will be an immortalized personality in the history of Bangladesh.
