The name of national poet of Bangladesh is Kazi Nazrul Islam. The nickname of Kazi Nazrul Islam is ‘Dukhu Mian’; mean Mr. Sad Man. He was one of the most powerful innovative poets in the world. General works of Kazi Nazrul Islam were foundation on religious attachment and religious revolution against oppression.

Kazi Nazrul Islam was born on 24th May 1899 in the Asansol subdivision of West Bengal of India. Kazi Nazrul Islam was born in Churulia village belongs to a Muslim talukdar family. He had two other brothers Kazi Ali Hussain and Kazi Saahibjaan and a sister Umme Kulsum. Faqeer Ahmed was Kazi Nazrul Islam’s father was an Imam of a mosque. The name of Kazi Nazrul Islam’s mother was Zahida Khatun.

Kazi Nazrul Islam started his educational life into a madrasa and maktab. But he did not run it long.  Kazi Nazrul Islam joined a leto as like the folk thearer. Kazi Nazrul Islam had several occupations. He became a muezzin after death of his father.

The other of Kazi Nazrul Islam was a poet, short time writer, song composer, novelist, playwright and essayist.

Nazrul joined the army of British India in 1917. In 1920 Kazi Nazrul Islam published his first novel Bandhan-har (Freedom from Bondage). In 1921, Kazi Nazrul Islam married to Nargis. Nazrul started working for Calcutta Radio in 1936 for musical programs. For the daily newspaper ‘Nabayug’ Najrul was working as a chief editor in 1940.

Kazi Nazrul Islam achieved the Independence Day Award in 1977 awards, Ekushey Padak and Padma Bhushan awards.Kazi Nazrul Islam was a British Indian during 1899 to 1947, Indian 1947 to 1972 and Bangladeshi 1972 to 1976. He knew Bangali, Hindustani and Perian language.

The main creation of Kazi Nazrul Islam was Chol Chol Chol, Bidrohi, Dhumketu, Agniveena, Bandhan Hara and Nazrul Geeti.

When Kazi Nazrul Islam was 77 years old he left forever on 29th August 1976. But Kazi Nazrul Islam left his greatest creations to Bangladesh. Kazi Nazrul Islam is buried on the lands of the central mosque of Dhaka University.
