About Zainul Abedin
Zainul Abedin was a painter of Bangladesh. Zainul Abedin is the origin father of Modern Art of Bangladesh. Zainul Abedin was famous for painting, drawing sculpture in Bangladesh.
Zainul Abedin was born on 29th December in 1914. Zainul Abedin spent his childhood by the side of the Brahmaputra River. Most of Zainul Abedin activities were implicating the Brahmaputra of his career. Zainul Abedin lunched the work of watercolors. Zainul Abedin achieved Governor’s Gold Medal in 1938 in an exhibition of India.
Zainul Abedin was admitted into Calcutta Government Art School in Calcatta in 1933. After achieving the European academic style Zainul Abedin joined faculties of some schools. After his graduation Zainul Abedin became the first Muslim student who achieved first class division from the school.
Zainul Abedin was the founder of the modern art movement that took place in Bangladesh. Zainul Abedin founded an art institute in Dhaka in 1948. Zainul Abedin began Bengali style after completing his training in London for two years.
Zainul Abedin described this inhuman story with very human emotions into his works. These drawings became symbolic images of human pathetic stories. This drawing supported him to find out his way in a realistic loom that focused the human protest and struggle. Many of his works of Zainul Abedin focus the situation of Bangladeshi during the liberation war.
Some of Zainul Abedin’s outstanding works are Rebel cow, a painting by Abedin, Famine Sketch in 1943, Famine Sketch in1943, Santal Couple in 1951, Beauty Regime in 1953, Beauty Regime in 1966 and other. Zainul Abedin made a painting with watercolor, wax and ink in 1969.
The Folk Art Museum in Sonargaon was founded by Zainul Abedin in 1975. Zainul Abedin also founded ‘Zainul Abedin Shangrahasala’ in Mymensing district in 1975. Zainul Abedin married to Jahanara Abedin. He always leaded a simple life.
Zainul Abedin is recognized with great respect as Great Teacher of the Arts in Bangladesh. When Zainul Abedin was sixty one years old he left us on 28th May in 1976. By arranging many cultural programs Bangladeshi people remember this famous painter in every year.
