Jasim-ud-Din was a famous Bengali poet. His full name is Jasim-ud-Din Mollah but he better known as Jasim-ud-Din. His written poem “Kobor” is unforgettable contribution to Bengali literature. “Nakshi Kathar Math” is best composition in his life.
He is known as “Polli Kobi” in Bangladesh. Polli Kobi Jasim-ud-Din was born in 1st January 1903 at Tambulakhana in Faridpur district. And Polli Kobi father’s home village is Gobindapur in Faridpur district. Polli Kobi’s father name is Ansar Uddin Mollah. He was a school teacher. Polli Kobi’s mother name was Amena Khatun and nick name Rangachut. Polli Kobi Jasim-ud-Din start his education in Faridpur Welfare School and then Faridpur Zilla School. Polli Kobi Jasim-ud-Din pass entrance examinations form Faridpur Zilla School in 1921. And pass B.A & M.A from University of Calcutta in 1929 & 1931. In 1933, Polli Kobi Jasim-ud-Din wan joined the Ramtanu Lahiri as a research assistant under Dr. Dinesh Chandra Sen at University of Calcutta.
In 1969, Rabindra Bharat University was awarded Polli Kobi Jasim-ud-Din the title of respect De Lit. Polli Kobi Jasim-ud-Din was died on March 13th in 1976. Polli Kobi Jasim-ud-Din was buried in his native village Gobindapur in Faridpur district.
Polli Kobi Jasim-ud-Din write so many poems, Dramas, Memoirs, Fictions, Travel stories, Songs and other. Nakshi Kanthar, Balu Char, Dhanakheta, Padmapara, Beder Meye, Madhumala, Jader Dekhechi, Of Life, Smrtipata, Boba Story, Holde Porir Deshe, Je Deshe Manus Boro, Jari Songs, Mursidi Songs, Dalimkumar those are his creation.
Polli Kobi Jasim-ud-Din get some many awards. One of them President’s Award for Pride of Performance, Ekushey Award, Independence Day Award (posthumous), Bengali Academy award but he was rejected that award, D Lit degree from Rabindra Bharati University.
Each every year in January at Gobindapur there is a fortnightly festival known as Jasim Mela. This festival observed for Polli Kobi Jasim-ud-Din commemorating the birthday.
