Muhammad Yunus is a social banker, entrepreneur and civil society leader of Bangladesh. He is an economist. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for origin the Grameen Bank. He was beginning the models of microfinance and microcredit. These loans are given to poor entrepreneurs to succeed.
The Grameen Bank and Yunus and were awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2006. It was awarded for the through microcredit to create economic and social development. He founded a citizen’s group and ran the Bangladesh Information Center. It happened during the Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971.
Muhammad Yunus was born on 28th June in 1940. His was born at Chittagong of Bengal Presidency in British India. He has graduated from University of Chittagong. He studied in Shahjalal University of Science and Technology for graduation. He also studied at Glasgow Caledonian University. His respective fields of study were Microcredit theory and Development economics.
Muhammad Yunus joined the Bureau of Economics after his graduation. He attached as a research assistant to the economics researches. He was a lecturer in economics at Chittagong College in 1961. He also set up a packaging factory on the side during that time. He received a Fulbright scholarship in 1965 to study in the United States. He got his PhD in economics from the Vanderbilt University in 1971. During 1969 to 1972, Yunus was assistant professor of Murfreesboro at Middle Tennessee State University.
Muhammad Yunus is awarded by the Ramon Magsaysay Award in 1984. Independence Day Award in 1987 also reaches to him. He also rewarded by World Food Prize of 1994, Pfeffer Peace Prize in 1994 and Gandhi Peace Prize in 2000. In 2003, he got the Volvo Environment Prize. He was pleased for the awards of Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2009.
There is a Yunus Centre located in Dhaka City of Bangladesh. It is a think tank for topics connected to social business. It has been working in the field of scarcity improvement. It is expected primarily at endorsing. It is also broadcasting Professor Yunus philosophy. This is a special focus on social businesses and presently chaired by Prof. Muhammad Yunus.
