Krishna Janmashtami

Krishna Janmashtami is also known as Krishnashtami, Ashtami Rohini, Gokulashtami, Saatam Aatham, Sree Jayanti or Srikrishna Jayanti.  It is simply known as Janmashtami. It is an annual festivity of the birth of the Hindu divinity Krishna. He was the eighth avatar of Vishnu.

The fair is famous on the eighth day Ashtami of the Krishna Paksha or dark fortnight. This day is of the month of Shravana in the Hindu calendar. And it is calendar during August to September in English calendar. Rasa lila, theatrical performances of the life of Krishna. It is unique feature in regions of Mathura and Vrindavan. The parade dates back to 1902. But it was stopped in 1948 by the organization of Pakistan and ensuing attacks by Muslim crowds in Dhaka. The parade was started in 1989.
