About Dhaka Division
Dhaka division is the largest division in Bangladesh. Dhaka city is the capital of Bangladesh. It stands by the side of the Buriganga River. Dhaka division is an ancient and historical area of Bangladesh. In the British period its name was Dacca division.
Dhaka division is covered with over twenty thousand square kilometers area. Over thirty six million people are living in this division. Dhaka division is bounded with northern Mymensingh division and southern Barishal division. Chittagong division is situated on the south-east of the Dhaka division.
Dhaka city is consisted with two city corporations as well as Dhaka North City Corporation and Dhaka South City Corporation, thirteen districts, ninety three upozilas and one thousand two hundred and thirty nine union parishads.
Name of the district of Dhaka division are Dhaka, Faridpur, Gazipur, Gopalgonj, Kishoreganj, Madaripur, Manikganj, Munsiganj, Narayanganj, Narsingdi, Rajbari, Shariatpur and Tangail.
Most of the industries and business centers have established in Dhaka division. There is an EPZ situated at Gazipur district in Dhaka division. Most of the largest factories and industries of Bangladesh spread over the Dhaka division. Most of the people are service holder of government and private sectors. With over seven hundred and fifty companies the Dhaka Stock Exchange is situated at Dhaka.
